Extra Data for Kit 17.03
Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis 40-foot, solid-bottom, steel gondola

The NC&StL bought four batches of these solid-bottom steel gondolas from 1929 to 1949. A total of 1,150 cars were built and many survived into the mid-1960s under L&N ownership.

These gondolas had eight posts with extensions at the four centermost posts, The ends were flat with reinforced ribs. They were relatively large 40-foot gons with 4-feet, 8-inch interior height and 42-feet interior length. They had 1,848 cubic feet and 50-ton capacity.
This kit has a one-piece carbody to ease assembly. The kit consists of the following parts:
- One-piece resin body
- Floor and detail parts
- Tahoe Models Double-Truss truck sideframes (#007)
- Various Tichy parts
- Various pieces of wire and stirrups
- Decals for NC&StL reporting marks
The modeler is to supply any small styrene bits, chain, couplers, weight, wheelsets, and small screws needed to complete the model.
