Extra Data for Mini-Kit 4.01 & 4.02
AT&SF Fe-22/23 50-foot, rebuilt automobile box cars

The Santa Fe began a rebuilding their 1928 Fe-S class ARA 50-foot double-sheathed boxcars into all steel double door boxcars in 1941. These became Fe-22 class general services boxcars in the 7000-7149 series. An additional 50 Fe-22 cars in the 7150-7199 series along with 200 Fe-23 class car in the 6786-6999 series became auto parts cars.

The resin parts and decals in this mini-kit can be applied to an HO scale plastic LifeLike/Walthers Proto 2000 50-foot automobile box car with end doors. These models best reflect the Santa Fe prototypes. Sunshine Models origiinally issued thise mini-kits in 2006.

The Resin Car Works mini-kit includes the following:

  • Resin detail parts
  • Tahoe Model Works Dalman truck sideframe with lateral motion devises
  • Tichy ladders
  • Custom decals

The modeler will also need to supply stirrups, assorted wire sizes and grabs, and all other parts to create a finished model. The original kit ladders are wrong for this class, which is why we included the Tichy ones.

Resin Car Works would like to thank the following rail historians and modelers for their high quality work. Without their efforts, these kits would not have been produced.

Charlie Slater - casting masters
Richard Hendrickson - prototype research
Tom Madden - for his castings work
Ken Soroos – decal art creation
Frank Hodina - kit instructions and model photos
